# Move a lead to another sales step

Move your leads from one step of your sales pipeline to another in any view, and filter them by sales step.

Each company has its own [sales steps](https://www.nocrm.io/academy/how-to-set-up-a-consistent-sales-process) that the admin can define in noCRM. Moving leads inside your sales pipeline is important, as it gives you a clear idea of your current business and priorities.

Moving a lead from one step to another is easy, but the way to do it depends on the view you're using.

## How do you move a lead to another step?

Depending on your current view:

- In the **extended view**, the steps appear on the left side. Click the name of the step and choose another step in the drop-down menu.

- In the **compact view**, leads are displayed in a spreadsheet-like view, with several columns. Click the step's name in the step column and choose another step.

- In the **pipeline view**, leads are displayed in one column per sales step. Drag and drop a lead from one column to another to change its step.

> **Success:** **Best practice**: With the compact view, you can change the step of several leads at a time. For more information, [check our article on bulk actions with leads](https://help.nocrm.io/en/articles/81-bulk-actions-with-leads.md).

## How do you filter leads by sales step?

While browsing your leads in the extended or compact view, you can [filter leads](https://help.nocrm.io/en/articles/79-filters.md) by sales step: click the step you're interested in, at the top of the far right-hand column. To display leads from several steps, click more than one step.

> **Info:** **Note**: Administrators create and order the sales steps in **Admin panel** > **Sales process** > **Pipeline steps**. To design them, read [How to Plan a Sales Pipeline](https://www.nocrm.io/blog/plan-sales-pipeline/).
